No More Storms

Give thoughts some downtime, embrace some rest, no one said it’s a competition or a race.

Where Does True Freedom Lie by Adrian Shaw, Member of the Community Assembly of Mevagissy

Life, on a daily basis, is not easy, sometimes it’s pure bliss and pleasurable but at other times it’s really quite tumultuous- it can often get us down.

But if we believe that that is all there is and we don’t spend time isolating ourselves away from the madness: not reading the media, listening to the news or listening to gossip, and not getting involved in other people's dramas, then we can find that peace, we can find moments of tranquillity within the storms.

It’s magic, when we can find the calm within the storms that surge around us!

A trickle of water, the ice still not set,

for time is the keeper of wonder.

The eternal mind disconnect and forget,

and the questions of deepening we ponder.

Stray thinking of distraction, the illusory quest,

and the sound of the water gains pace.

Give thoughts some downtime, embrace some rest,

no one said it’s a competition or a race.

The ice-shelf cracks as it pulls away,

drifts free on that sea of wonder.

Calm in translucence, free of affray,

and no more storms of decay or plunder.

Adrian Shaw, Poetry Philosophy - Member of the Community Assembly of Mevagissy, Cornwall

Adrian was born in the city of Brighton, England, in the late 1960’s.  Moving with his family aged 12 to rural Cornwall, he spent his teenage years revelling in the freedoms of this ancient and mystical county, experiencing the kind of adventures that this once inner-city child might have only ever dreamt of.

He has since lived throughout England and also spent much of the 1990’s in Vancouver, Canada. Returning in 2019, he once more calls Mevagissey home where he bases his portraiture and fine art photographic business.

Adrian deliberates his spiritual awakening: the exploration and unravelling of ones true essence intrinsic to the human experience, of which he delights in expressing through his engagingly rhythmic and poetic style.
