Community Assembly of Twon Moor

Serving, supporting and protecting our local community

About Us

The Community Assembly of Town Moor is situated on the site of the Doncaster Racecourse (also known as the Town Moor Course) in Doncaster in South Yorkshire in the British Isles, near to the city centre. Town Moor is famously home to the Doncaster Racecourse and the Doncaster Town Moor Golf Club. The course is a historic racecourse that hosts flat and national hunt racing. It is home to the world’s oldest race, the St Leger Stakes.

Town Moor became a racing venue in 1721 with events continuing throughout the 18th century. The Town Moor course attracted large numbers of race-goers due to its position next to the North Turnpike Road. Facilities were largely temporary, consisting of marquees and wooden structures until 1800, when a permanent stone grandstand was built at the north end of the site. It was paid for by subscription, allowing subscribers free entry.

Living in Town Moor today, offers a quiet, picturesque and well-connected residential experience surrounded by green spaces like the Town Moor itself. The area is known for its peaceful atmosphere while providing easy access to local amenities and pubs in Doncaster. It is popular for its suburban feel within easy reach of the city centre.

Community Assemblies are made up of residents concerned about a lack of democratic process at a local and national level, dedicated to preserving and asserting our inalienable rights and obligations to ourselves, the Earth and future.
